Martyn Keenan presents 'SAFE as houses' and 'Watching the Detectors' !
Added 11/02/2020
Martyn Keenan, Gent Business Manager for the North West, recently presented two CPDs to Stanley Security. These were well received, in fact, Michael Heasman, UK Fire Product Manager for Stanley Security said, ''The VAD presentation as well as providing a general overview of requirements for VAD’s and different class types, looked in detail at the requirements of BS EN 54 part 23 and considerations of typical ambient light and the effect on adequate effectiveness and coverage in conjunction with CoP 0001. This thought provoking presentation looked at space selection for devices and also highlighted the need for designers to be aware of light levels in the future with future room changes.

The second presentation was regarding the Honeywell SAFE product. The SAFE system is an engineered solution for buildings, allowing a designer to offer a solution to bridge the gap between a landlord’s fire alarm system and individual residential accommodation. It has been designed so that a BS 5839-6 system in an individual dwelling can work in conjunction with BS 5839-1 requirements for a building.

The use of this SAFE system also helps to minimise False alarm evacuations of a building, from unwanted false alarms and unnecessary calling of the fire and rescue services for example from cooking activities.

He continued, ''Stanley places a strong emphasis on training and invests considerable time and effort in making sure our engineers are fully qualified and conversant with the latest fire standards and fire product solutions.

Presentations like these given to us are invaluable sources of information and the time and effort spent with our engineers and the knowledge gained was much appreciated.''
